New from Nike: the Blazer Mid 77 Jumbo!

Why are these Nike Blazers called Jumbo?

If you are familiar with the aesthetics of the latest Nike Blazer ’77 Mid model, it’s because of its resemblance to the famous Nike collaboration with Virgil Abloh, but not only.

Both have the Swoosh of much larger dimensions than the original model, which “borders” above the sole, for an alternative and compact look.

But where does its nickname come from?

‘Jumbo’ means – in fact – “larger than normal”, in addition to this, it also refers to the name of an elephant famous for its big size, which at the end of the century XIX performed in a London circus.

Since that time, Jumbo has been associated with pachyderms, from the almost obvious association to the Disney film “Dumbo”, which is reminiscent of “Jumbo“.

In the case of the Nike Sneaker, it has been associated due to the Maxi Swoosh – far larger than the OG version – which resembles a proboscis.

The latest Blazer 77 Jumbo features a special heel with elastic ribbed velvet fabric, to put them on and take them off with easy; a maxi tongue.

Complete the look double laces that add an ironic touch to this version.
