Not many people know that the 480 is the brand’s first model created for basketball. It made its debut in 1983, and was worn by some of the most legendary players in NBA history, such as James Worthy and M.L. Carr. Throughout the decade, the two players gathered around them a large fan following, which also drew from their style on the court.
The New Balance 480s thus became a street style statement of the 1980s.
Named “Scandi” or “Dad Shoes,” the 530 model was born in 1992 for the race that, exactly 30 years later, have won a well-deserved return to the scenes, rediscovered by the fashion world and worn by influencers, celebrities and sneaker fans.
